Recommended Keyboards for Our Self-Paced Piano Membership
These keyboard recommendations are specifically for students enrolled in our Self-Paced Piano Membership, which uses the Piano Express® learning system. A MIDI-compatible keyboard is highly recommended to use the app to its full potential, but it is not necessary to get started.
Piano Express can also be used with an acoustic piano or non-MIDI keyboard, with the app guiding you through the lessons much like a metronome. Without MIDI, the app cannot score your playing, provide automatic feedback, or unlock the final review section of each level. Many students begin with the instrument they already own and later rent, or purchase an inexpensive 61-key MIDI-compatible keyboard for the complete interactive experience.
Students enrolling in private lessons do not need a MIDI-compatible keyboard.
